A Theresa man hit his girlfriend on the head with a metal bar, leaving her unconscious and with a head laceration, according to State Police.

They charged 26 year old Dion D. Thomas of County Route 18 with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute on May 26th at a residence in Evans Mills.

After allegedly hitting Ann Gates with the bar, Thomas allegedly left the home with the couple's eight month old child.

He was arraigned in town of Pamelia court and sent to Jefferson County jail with bail set at $1,000.
