Police arrest man who made threatening calls to Krystal Rice's Attorney

On April 19th, Attorney Charu Narang, who represents Krystal Rice in a civil lawsuit, reported to media outlets and the State Police, she had received a phone call from a person, who was unidentified at that time, the caller made certain comments that referenced what would be inappropriate conduct if, in fact, the caller was associated with law enforcement. The comments referenced Attorney Narang not being able to operate her vehicle without being stopped by Jefferson County Deputies, and the caller would make it difficult for Attorney Narang to practice law in New York State. According to Attorney Narang, the subject of this call caused her annoyance and alarm, and she expressed concern about "retaliation" for her handling this civil issue. An investigation into the allegations of Attorney Narang was initiated and the subsequent investigation identified the caller as 35 year old Rodney Sanford of East Syracuse, NY. Sanford is also a former resident of Watertown.
The investigation further determined that Sanford has no ties to law enforcement, specifically any member of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department named in the civil documents. Sanford further advised authorities that no one asked him to make the calls, and he made the calls based solely on his own decision, because "He wanted to help his friends in the Sheriffs Department".
Sanford was arrested and charged with Aggravated Harassment 2nd Degree on and subsequently arraigned in the Town of Hounsfield Court. He was released pending further action of the Court.
This investigation determined that no member of law enforcement, specifically any member of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department, had any involvement in placing the calls, and no official misconduct existed.
