Police investigate Amish Buggy hit and run

Lowvillw -- The Lewis County Sheriff's Department is investigating a hit and run accident involving an Amish buggy.

The incident happened at around 8 pm last night on State Rt. 12 in the Town of Lowville. Police say the vehicle was traveling north near the Nefsey Rd. intersection when it struck the buggy, causing extensive damage. The vehicle then fled the scene prior to police arriving. The two occupants of the buggy, a man and woman, were not hurt.

The vehicle is described as a newer model Ford F-250 or F-350 with front passenger side damage. The vehicle is also possibly missing its passenger side mirror.
