Police make an arrest in connection with Tuesday's fire on High St.
Watertown (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- Watertown City Police have made an arrest in connection to that High St. fire that was set early Tuesday morning.
Authorities say 25 year old Joshua Metzler of 717 State St. called 911 to turn himself in Tuesday evening. Metzler is accused of intentionally setting fire to an apartment complex at 239 High St. just after 3 am Tuesday morning.
The apartment complex was heavily damaged and three people were sent to the hospital. Two for smoke inhalation and a third for leg injuries after she was forced to jump out of the building's second story to escape the blaze. A search warrant was executed at Metzler's residence Tuesday afternoon.
Metzler has had a history of arrests in the city of Watertown, he is now charged with second degree arson and is due to be arraigned today in city court. As far as a motive, the "Watertown Daily Times" reports that Metzler may have been upset over a recent break up with a girlfriend.
