Watertown (WWTI) -- Monday evening Police responded to a report of marijuana being smoked in a room at the Best Western Hotel and discovered 4 bundles of heroin.
20 year old Deon Whitehead of Syracuse has been charged with 3rd degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He was arraigned in Watertown City Court and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $20,000 cash bail and awaiting Grand Jury action.
Shataya Kirkland, also of Syracuse, was in the hotel room with Whithead and was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Kirkland was released and is scheduled to appear in City Court at a later date.
