Poll shows Owens with a double digit lead in congressional race
Nathan Lehman WTNY -- A new poll shows Democratic Congressman Bill Owens has a comfortable lead in his bid for reelection this November.
The poll from Siena College released Monday morning has Owens leading his Republican challenger Matt Doheny 49 to 36% among likely voters. That amounts to a 13 percentage point lead. The polls says that voters see Owens doing a better job than Doheny on a series of six issues by margins of seven to 18 points in a district that has a 15 point Republican enrollment edge.
The survey found Green Party candidate Donald Hasig with 6% support of voters. Eight percent of those listed are undecided. The college surveyed 638 likely voters last week.
The Doheny camp says the numbers are reflective of the Democratic National Convention that was underway at the time of the survey.
