Pulaski man behind bars; allegedly embezzled nearly $100,000 from a lafargeville business

Lafargeville (WTNY) -- A former employee of a LaFargeville business is accused of stealing from it.

47 year old Peter Briggs of Pulaski, was arrested this week by State Police. Briggs is accused of embezzling about $95,00 from W.D. Bach Excavating and Consulting where he worked. The thefts were discovered following an internal audit conducted by the company.

Investigators say Briggs allegedly made false business entries and forged checks over an 18 month period. He is charged with second degree grand larceny, forgery, and falsifying business records.

He was arraigned and ordered held in the Jefferson County Jail on $20,000 bail.
