Ramp from 690 East to I-81 South closed

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The ramp connecting I-690 Eastbound to I-81 Southbound will remain closed 24 hours a day for the next four weeks.

Roadwork began on the ramp on Monday morning and will last through Friday, June 8.

Detour signs are in place to guide drivers around the construction zone.

The New York State Department of Transportation offered two alternate routes during the closure:

Posted detour for Eastbound to Southbound thru traffic (points south of downtown Syracuse):

Continue on Eastbound I-690 to Midler Avenue; left turn onto Midler Avenue; left turn onto Burnet Avenue; left turn onto Westbound I-690 on-ramp; left lane exit to southbound I-81.

Alternate detour for local traffic (University & Hospital areas):

Eastbound I-690 to the West Street exit; West Street south to Shonnard Street; Shonnard Street turns into Adams Street.
