State police arrested a Rensselaer Falls man for DWI after an accident early Sunday morning in Canton.
Troopers responded to a one car personal injury accident which occurred at approximately 1:13 am Sunday at the intersection of County Route 27 and Sykes Road. Troopers stated that 35-year-old Scott C. Hammond of Congress Street, Rensselaer Falls was driving northwest on County Route 27 when he exited the roadway at a curve, entered a ditch and struck a utility pole.
Hammond complained at the scene of pain and lacerations to his head and hands and was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment.
Investigation into the accident resulted in Hammond being arrested for DWI, speed too fast for conditions, and no seat belt. He was released on tickets pending appearance in Town of Canton Court.
