Residents voting on dissolution of the Village of Chaumont today

(Village of Chaumont) - Residents in the Village of Chaumont will go to the polls today to determine if they should exist as a village.

As part of the state sponsored dissolution process, Chaumont could end up dissolving and becoming a hamlet, allowing it to share services with the Town of Lyme.

A recent study found dissolution could allow village property owners to see a tax reduction of up to 49%. On the opposite end of that, town tax payers could see an increase of 8%.
