Ten children from Depeyster will be able to attend a church camp.
Carthage Area Hospital will be able to buy a special system for treating jaundiced babies.
Eight Young Explorers under the Castorland Fire Department can go to the New York Fire Academy.
All of the projects, and others, have been funded by the latest grants from Ronald McDonald Charities of Northern New York.
The grants were ceremonially awarded at the Watertown Arsenal Street McDonalds Thursday morning.
Local McDonalds owner Jim O'Donnell said the awards take on added importance in light of the economy.
"All the organizations need some money. Regretfully, there's just not enough money in the system to keep everybody going, but we did the best we could," O'Donnell said.
The awards total a little over $13,000:
- Cape Vincent Arts Council: $2,205 for its yearly Chopin Competition which is a classical competition for pianists 25 years and younger
- Carthage Area Hospital: $2,359 for the purchase of a Bilibed system for treating jaundice babies
- Castorland Explorers Post 122: $1,200 to allow eight explorers and four advisers to attend the New York Fire Academy
- Depeyster United Methodist Church: $750 to help send ten children to Camp Aldersgate
- Disabled Persons Action Organization: $5,000 to help the DPAO assist Sherman Elementary School with a handicap accessible playground
- South Jefferson Community Action Corporation: $1,500 to help the Rohde Center in Adams buy school supplies for disadvantaged children
