Watertown— Since electing new members to their board in January, the S.P.C.A. has been planning new projects for this year.

According S.P.C.A. Board President, Beth A. Augustus there are old and new members that bring a fresh diversity to the local S.P.C.A. The unique talented members have backgrounds in marketing, medicine, finance and more. “Dan DeBlasio and Angel Munson are older board members that are back on this year, but Lesley McKinney, Kathy Anderson, and Holly Gaskin are all new, which is exciting,” said Ms. Augustus.

The S.P.C.A. of Jefferson County made a lot of progress in 2012 with the hiring of their current Director Doug Marlow and looks forward to propelling themselves even further this coming year. The new adoption center at the Petco was the first of several projects that have gone successfully.

The S.P.C.A. plans to re-introduce their newsletter, which will go out to S.P.C.A. members. “We are considering adding an education center to the facility” said Ms. Augustus, “so that we will be able to have kids come in during the summer and get educated on the S.P.C.A.”

All board members are volunteers and concerned community members interested in caring for the needs of pets without homes. Anyone can join and be a member of the S.P.C.A., which help the non-profit facility care for pets in need of a new family.

S.P.C.A. Membership Cost:

·      Individual $20

·      Family $40
