Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- In order to get to the #1 spot in the national polls, the Orange will need more than just a win over Villanova this weekend.
Both Michigan and Kansas would have to lose this weekend, but if SU does handle its
business
down in Philadelphia on Saturday, at the very least they’d take over sole possession of the #3 ranking.
It would also allow Jim Boeheim’s team to maintain their lead in the conference standings – but don’t expect it to be easy for the Orange.
The Wildcats showed us a couple of weeks ago that they can more than hold their own. Their first match-up with the Orange at the Dome was very much in doubt until Trevor Cooney helped spark a second half run.
This time around, Villanova will have the home court advantage, plus the cats have confidence following their upset of Louisville on Tuesday.
Tip-off is at 11 a.m. The game will air on ESPNU.
