A SUNY Potsdam student was killed Tuesday afternoon in a car crash in the Adirondacks.

State Police say three students left SUNY Potsdam yesterday in a 2002 Hyundai Elantra driven by 20 year old Erica Romaniello of Suffolk County.

The car went off State Route 30 in Tupper Lake shortly before 1 p.m., rolling over several times and ejecting 21 year old Tyrell Spencer of Uniondale. He died of his injuries after being flown to Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington.

Romaniello was taken to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake with arm and neck injuries. She was later transferred to Fletcher Allen where she was listed in fair condition.

Another passenger, 18 year old Jean Carroll of Islip Terrace was taken to Adirondack Medical Center with head and neck injuries. She was treated and released.

Spencer was a member of the class of 2010, according to his Facebook page.

Ms. Romaniello is listed on SUNY Potsdam's website as a member of the women's volleyball team.

State Police say the investigation into the accident is continuing.
