Six North Country schools have made the 2009 U.S. News and World Report America’s Best High Schools list.
The list analyzes 21,069 public high schools in 48 states using data from the 2006-2007 school year. The schools were graded on whether they serve all their students well, using state proficiency standards as the measuring benchmarks. They also assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work.
St. Lawrence County had the greatest number of schools in the North Country on the list, as well as the highest-ranked. Three schools from the County made the list:
Colton-Pierrepont Junior-Senior High School – awarded a Silver Medal
Edwards-Knox Junior-Senior High School – awarded a Bronze Medal
