Snow continues overnight
A Major Winter Storm to Impact Central New York Wednesday Night and Thursday
Low pressure is consolidating along the mid Atlantic Coast overnight Wednesday as it prepares to head northeast along the Northeast coast during the next 24 hours. Heavy snow will continue over parts of central New York through the morning commute. By Thursday morning low pressure will be near New York City and the scoot off the New England Coast later in the day. This means our snow will continue to weaken and become lighter through the day.
An additional light accumulation of 1-3” of snow is still likely Thursday. That is going to give storm totals of 6-10” in and around the Syracuse area. Snow totals of 4-8” are possible southeast of Syracuse. From Oswego County southwest back into the Finger Lakes, totals of a foot or more are possible.
Our weather quiets down on Friday but then we watch a new area of low pressure heading toward the East Coast. The computer models we look still indicate a weaker storm than was indicated a couple of days ago. That minimizes the possibility of a significant snow here in central New York this weekend but we’ll continue to keep a close eye on things over the next few days.
