An altercation on an Alexandria Bay street in December resulted in the arrest of a Fort Drum soldier Thursday.
It was shortly after 2:00 a.m. on December 30th when an Alexandria Bay Couple, 26 year old Marcy L. Service and Shane Mercer, were driving on Walton Street when they encounter a man holding up traffic as he walked in the middle of the street.
As an argument ensued the man in the street approached Ms. Service’s car, began punching and kicking it and sucker punched Mr. Mercer three times as he sat in the passenger seat.
When Ms. Service got out to check the damage to her car the man punched her in the face. Mr. Mercer by this time was also out of the car and began fighting with the assailant.
The man and his female companion fled the scene shortly before police arrived.
Ms. Service was treated for pain and bruising to her jaw.
An investigation by Jefferson County Deputies resulted in the arrest of a suspect, Oscar Ruben Diaz, 23, of 68A Anthony Street, Alexandria Bay on a charge of Harassment 2nd Degree.
Diaz, who was located through a check of credit card records at an A-Bay bar, turned himself in at the Public safety Building after he was contacted by investigators. He was issued an appearance ticket for Alexandria Bay Village Court on January 9th.
