St. Regis Falls was the only North Country school district to have its budget rejected in Tuesday's voting.

The budget fell on a vote of 187 no, to 88 yes.

Elsewhere in the North Country, most school budgets passed easily.

That includes Carthage Central, a center of budget unrest last year that led to the resignation of its superintendent.  However, two incumbent school board members were ousted.

The Carthage budget passed, 680-393, and propositions for school bus purchases and library funding were also approved.

Incumbent board members Lori Miller and Terry Freeman won reelection. However, two other incumbents lost to challengers Anne Rohr and Joe Colangelo.

In Watertown, the school budget was approved, 332-126.
