State Liquor Authority has an issue with alcohol and concessions at Privateers home games
Watertown (WTNY) -- An issue with the State Liquor Authority has put the City of Watertown's plans to renew their contract with the Thousand Island's Privateers on hold.
The city council learned of an issue involving an alcohol vendor at the hockey games. According to the Liquor Authority, in order to sell beer and other drinks at the games, the entity must also run the concession stand. The stand is currently being run by the city. If something doesn't give, the city could loose out on concessions sales or no alcohol would be served at the games. The city is looking to resolve the issue with the Liquor Authority before a deadline of February 1.
The council also received a report last night on the city's finances. The fund balance continues to shrink. The reason: an increase in pension costs which totaled about $3.1 million in 2012.
