A shift in wind to the southwest early this afternoon has taken lake effect rain showers well north of central New York. However, the air over us is rather cool so any heating we get from the sun is going to go into causing fair weather cumulus clouds to build up.  We wouldn’t be surprised if skies turn out mostly cloudy for an hour or two this afternoon.  By in large, expect a decent afternoon with a somewhat brisk west to southwest wind.

While this is ongoing, a cold front is projected to drop southwest from south-central Canada and is forecast to be situated over the central Great Lakes by tomorrow morning.  With the high positioned off the East Coast and the cold front to our west, brisk southwest winds will team-up with sunshine to push temperatures into the 70s.

The cold front is forecast to impact central New York Wednesday in the form of showers.  Cooler air will arrive behind the front Thursday and Friday.  Right now, the weekend looks somewhat unsettled as low pressure is forecast to move along or off the Northeast coast.  Exactly how this evolves will largely determine our weather.  As we say in the business, stay tuned!
