Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The SU women return to action against Villanova on Saturday and they’ll do so with an added spring in their step.

By now, you’ve probably seen the three-point buzzer beater shot by freshman Brittany Sykes to beat St. John’s 60-57. If you haven’t, it’s certainly worth watching.

NewsChannel 9 caught up with Sykes on Thursday. She said she was up until about 3 a.m. responding to texts and phone calls, and of course, she had to wait to see whether or not her shot made SportsCenter’s Top 10.

“I got nervous because I was like okay, there goes number five, number four, three and I said okay, maybe I didn’t make it. And then they said Syracuse and I turned my head and immediately I called my mom. I was like, mom, I made number one. It was amazing. I called my dad, I called everybody in my phone book…it was crazy,” Sykes told NewsChannel 9.
