A Virginia teenager was seriously injured in a one-car crash Thursday morning in the Lewis County town of Lyonsdale.

Deputies say 17 year old Matthias Kubick of Exmore, Va., was a passenger in the 2007 Mustang that went off the Lyonsdale Road about 3:22 a.m. and hit a tree.

Kubick's head struck the dashboard of the car. He was taken to Lewis County General Hospital then transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse.

The driver, 18 year old Joshua Kubick, of Ononcock, Va., was ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to keep right and speed not reasonable and prudent.

Two other passengers, 20 year old Cody R. Foley of Turin and 17 year old Alex W. Pfendler of Brantingham were not injured.

Road conditions were wet and slippery at the time of the crash, deputies said, and inexperienced driving was also a factor.
