Watertown— It's been several weeks since Super Storm Sandy slammed the east coast and many people still need help getting back on their feet. The Northern New York Community Foundation has vowed to help out. Nassau County assisted the North Country during the January 1998 ice storms and now the North Country is giving back.
ABC50 spoke with Executive Director of the Northern New York Community Foundation, Rande Richardson. Mr. Richardson said, “We’re giving back to Nassau County because they were here for the entire North Country during the ice storms. We are acting as a charitable vehicle. There are basically two parts to this one- materials and supplies, part two the financial support that is collected.”
The people of Nassau County are in critical need of the following items: household cleaning supplies, mops, brooms, bleach, dustpans, and paper towels. The unopened toys are being requested for families with children, as the holidays are just a few weeks away.
