The latest unemployment numbers for the North Country were released by the state on Tuesday. The report shows a slight uptick in jobless numbers compared to a year ago. Jefferson County's rate was 10.1% in April, down a full percentage point from March, but up slightly from a year ago. Lewis County's rate was 10.2%, up from 9.9% in April 2011. St. Lawrence County's unemployment rate was 10.1% last month. That's actually down from 10.3% a year ago. The statewide average for April was 8.1%.
