Time and money might be running out to save the Woolworth Building
Watertown (WTNY) -- Time is running out to save the Woolworth Building in Downtown Watertown. That is the assessment of the new owners of the historic structure, who urged the Watertown City Council Monday night to support their efforts to renovate the structure.
During a work session, the council heard from David Gallo, who recently reached an agreement to purchase the building. Gallo and his partners are seeking to turn the building into an apartment complex with about 50 units. The developers are asking the city for a tax abatement package to help get the development plans off the ground, as well as use of a parcel across the street for parking use.
