Brownville (WTNY) -- A Brownville man is dead following a domestic dispute that led to a shooting incident last night in the village.

Police have not released the names of those involved, but say the fatality was a result of a suicide.  It all began with a report of a domestic dispute involving an estranged married couple on St. Lawrence Ave., just before 2:30 am Friday.

The female involved says her estranged husband entered the home armed with a shotgun.  She says the two engaged in a brief struggle, but was able to flee.  She says that as she fled, she heard a gunshot coming from the residence.  Police arrived and found the body of the male at the residence.  Investigators believe he died from a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head.
