An underage drinking sweep of establishments in St. Lawrence County over the weekend netted two people for selling alcohol to minors.
State police in conjunction with the Gouverneur Village police conducted an underage drinking initiative in the area of Gouverneur, Edwards, Dekalb Junction and Hermon. During this initiative, an under age operative attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages at area bars and stores. During the course of the evening, 12 licensed establishments were checked and only two sold alcoholic beverages to the operative.
At G&J Liquors in the Village of Gouverneur, 51-year-old Cindy L. Ferry of Gouverneur was charged with prohibited sales to a person under the age of 21, in violation of the ABC law of the state of New York. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable at a later date in the Town of Gouverneur court and released.
At Zorro’s Tavern in Hermon, 41-year-old Gaynor B. Wainwright of Canton was charged with prohibited sales to a person under the age of 21, in violation of the ABC law of the state of New York. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable at a later date in the Town of Hermon court and released.
