Watertown (Nathan Lehman WTNY) -- As promised, the Watertown City Council heard Monday night from residents from the city's northside concerned with possible soil contamination where they live. On the heels of a public meeting several weeks ago on the topic, the residents are asking the city to become more involved in the issue, stemming from the contamination of soil by New York Air Brake several decades ago. Chemicals such as TCE were found in a study conducted by the DEC four years ago. Residents have accused the DEC of not being as forthcoming with information as they should be. Members of the council say there is little they can do, urging residents to contact their state representatives. Members of the DEC were also in attendance at last night's meeting to answer questions.
