Oswego County (WSYR-TV) – A Watertown man with a number of criminal charges pending including accusations that he raped a child is now being accused of dousing a woman in vodka and rubbing alcohol and trying to set her on fire.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Matthew Roof was charged with attempted assault, a felony, after a domestic incident in the town of Hastings.

Roof has been in trouble with the authorities on numerous occasions.

In October 2011, he was arrested on charges including rape and criminal sex act stemming from allegations involving a child who was then between the ages of 11 and 13. He posted bail following that arrest.

In November 2011, he was charged with two counts of unlawful imprisonment in the second degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of child. The Sheriff’s Office said Roof used ties and duct tape to bind a victim to a chair.

In June 2012, Roof was charged with criminal contempt and bribing a witness, both felonies, after Sheriff’s Deputies say he gave an alleged sex-abuse victim a cell phone and contacted her on it. Roof was released following the June arrest.

He is now being held at the Oswego County Jail without bail. The cases on the other charges are still pending
