Watertown— Earlier today, Watertown Urban Mission announced that they reached a significant financial objective.
Having reached 57% of their overall goal through monetary contributions, the Mission succeeded with the help of over 50 volunteers who assisted with their “Capital Campaign.”
“It was a very exciting morning. It was a chance to recognize all of the volunteers and donors who worked so hard over a year plus and publicly say our thanks,” said Executive Director of Development, Erika Flint. $1,141,300 was raised out of the overall $2 million fiscal budget, which will help with the Mission’s building restoration. Ms. Flint explained how the restoration would allow for the Mission to function with better efficiency, allowing for their program to reach more needy members of the community.
Last year, the Mission provided the community the following items nearly 35,000 times:
· Food & Drink
· Clothing
· Household goods
· Transportation Costs
· Addiction treatment
· Housing to neighbors in need
· Medical transportation costs
· Help with prescriptions
This "Capital Campaign" plans to ensure the future of the Mission by improving its facilities and building an endowment for long-term sustainability.
