Watertown man arrested on several charges after striking a Police Officer

Watertown --A Watertown man is facing several charges after allegedly striking a city police officer.

Forty three year old Travis Peterkin is alleged to have punched an arresting officer in the face following a brief struggle. Peterkin then ran off and was later apprehended along the 500 block of Stone St. The officer initially tried to take him into custody for allegedly possessing 21 Oxycodone pills.

The charges against Peterkin include third degree assault, resisting arrest, and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was ordered held on $500 bail
