A Watertown man was arrested after cutting the chord to a telephone while the victim was attempting to dial 911 during a domestic dispute.

Watertown police arrested 29-year-old Jacob I. Tompkins, of Boyd Street, and charged him with two counts of Criminal Mischief in the 4th.

It is alleged that Tompkins intentionally cut the chord to Jessica L. Austin’s phone, preventing her from completing an emergency call for police assistance during a domestic dispute.

Tompkins was transported to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building where he was processed and held pending arraignment.

An order of protection was issued for Ms. Austin and their child.
