Watertown -- Rescue crews were called to the banks of the Black River early Monday after a man is seen jumping into the water.

City police say 44 year old Russell Spencer of Watertown jumped off the Court St. Bridge at around 6:30 Monday morning. Rescue crews found him floating in the middle of the river in an area off of Newell St. and would not respond to them even though he was still conscious. He also would not cooperate with rescuers by refusing to talk to them.

He was brought out of the water and taken to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment of possible hypothermia.
