Whispering Pines nursing home set to close next year

With the Whispering Pines nursing home on Coffeen St. set to close next year, there are now plans in place as to what to do with the property once that occurs. Jefferson Community College, which is located next to the facility, wants to turn the space into a multi-use facility. The initial plans are to turn it into a center that could seat up to 7,000 people for events. The complex would also include classroom space for the college. The Watertown Trust on Thursday agreed to front $10,000 for a $40,000 feasibility study into the matter.
