Watertown— Disability Persons Action Organization is holding their annual Winter Olympics for their disabled members. DPAO supports those in the community with developmental disabilities, as well as traumatic brain injury (TBI).
In an effort to bring some fun this winter, the Winter Olympics will provide creative out door recreation for the disabled. Recreational Program Coordinator, Terri Alinda Fulmer is expecting the Olympics will be non-traditional.
For safety reasons, skiing or sledding will not be on the agenda. However, there will be plenty of fun activities such as: taking a walk, making a snowman, igloo building, and creating art work in snow. “We always say we can and never say we can’t”, Ms. Fulmer told ABC50.
Ms. Fulmer is still working out the details and preparing the program currently. The event will be tentatively taking place some time in February.
