Woman accused of faking breast cancer rejects plea deal
Canandaigua, N.Y. (13 WHAM) - Melissa Jones, the Farmington woman accused of faking breast cancer, rejected a plea deal in Ontario County Court Tuesday.
Jones rejected a deal to plead guilty to all charges in exchange for a 1 2/3 to 5 year sentence.
Police say she lied about having breast cancer and collected thousands of dollars in donations.
Earlier this month Jones said she has been wrongly charged and wrongly portrayed by prosecutors, the media, and others.
The case will go to trial January 7.
