A Glen Park man has been arrested after he held a knife to the throat of a female victim during a burglary of her home.
On Wednesday evening at approximately 7:20 p.m. Jack C. Yates, 56, of Park Street, was arrested and charged with Burglary in the 1st, a felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd, a felony, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Blood Circulation, Harassment in the 2nd and Menacing in the 2nd.
Yates was arrested after he forced his way into the victim’s home on Hoard Street, by pushing his way past victim Kimberly Sargent.
It is alleged that Yates intentionally entered Sargent’s home with the intent of assaulting her when he held a silver bladed knife to her throat, threatening to kill her, causing Sargent to fear for her life.
During the burglary, Yates choked Sargent with his hands and with a necklace that she was wearing, causing difficulty to her breathing.
He also kicked Sargent in the hip after throwing her to the floor.
Yates was taken to the Public Safety Building where he is being held pending arraignment.
