Woman with shotgun deters burglar

A Felts Mills woman grabbed her shotgun early Friday morning when she heard someone trying to beak into her gargage.

According to information from Jefferson County Dispatch, 55-year-old Norma J. McDonald of Crowner Avenue in Felts Mills awoke at about 1:45 a.m. Friday when she heard noise coming from the garage.

Grabbing her shotgun, Ms. McDonald went out to her front porch where she confronted the burglar, described as a black man, 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing approximately 250 pounds.

The burglar ran from the scene.

McDonald told investigators she had seen a suspicious vehicle near parked near her home at about 6 o'clock the previous evening.

She described the vehicle as a four door passenger car, silver or light blue in color, possibly with driver-side front fender damage. 

Ms. McDonald said the operator drove away when she approached the car.
