Recap: Nevada vs. Southern Utah
Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Malik Story dropped 25 points as the Nevada Wolf Pack bested the Southern Utah Thunderbirds 79-61 on the final day of the World Vision Classic at Lawlor Events Center.
Deonte Burton added 14 points for Nevada (3-1) while Cole Huff chipped in 11 and Ali Fall tacked on 10.
Damon Heuir was the lead scorer for Southern Utah (0-4) with 14 points. Julian Scott added 13 off the bench and Wade Collie contributed 12.
The first half was a tight one with Southern Utah connecting on 12-of-27 field goal attempts. Despite an 11-of-25 shooting performance in the first 20 minutes for Nevada, the Wolf Pack led 34-33 thanks to a 10-4 edge in points from the free throw line.
The second half was not nearly as competitive as Nevada heated up to 11-of-22 shooting including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and a 19-of-23 showing from the charity stripe.
Nevada scored 26 points off 22 Southern Utah turnovers and outscored the Thunderbirds 29-14 from the free throw line.
