Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Detroit Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi will not play in Saturday's game against Edmonton due to an ailing back.

Head coach Mike Babcock told reporters Friday that he wasn't certain how much time Bertuzzi would miss, though the 17-year veteran was ruled out for the upcoming matchup with the Oilers and the Red Wings recalled forward Joakim Andersson from the team's AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids.

Bertuzzi has totaled two goals and one assist with a plus-three rating in seven games this season. The 38-year-old had sat out Detroit's first three contests with flu-like symptoms.

To make room for Andersson on the active roster, the Red Wings placed goaltender Jonas Gustavsson on injured reserve. The backup netminder has been out since Jan. 19 with a groin strain.
