San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks agreed to terms on a one- year, $700,000 contract with center Scott Gomez on Wednesday.

Gomez, who played the last couple of seasons with the Montreal Canadiens had been one of two high-profile players with large salary-cap hits to be victims of the lowered cap for next season, along with defenseman Wade Redden, who signed a one-year, $800,000 deal with St. Louis last Friday.

The 33-year-old Anchorage native totaled six goals and 13 points in 11 games for the Alaska Aces in the ECHL during the lockout. Last season, Gomez recorded 11 points in 38 games for the Canadiens.

It is not known if Gomez will make his Sharks' debut Thursday night, when they play their home opener against Phoenix.

In addition, the Sharks also signed forward Tim Kennedy, who has tallied 11 goals and 18 assists over 112 career NHL games. He was acquired from the Florida Panthers on Jan. 26, 2012 in exchange for Sean Sullivan.
